7 Remarkable Attributes of God Every Christian Woman Must Know

An overview of 7 wonderful qualities of God to further inspire our awe and devotion to Him.

7 attributes of God

A Brief Testimony

It was a quiet day at the restaurant. As I stood against the wall, waiting for guests to arrive, my mind drifted to how lost I was before I met Christ.

To be honest, I thought I knew where I was heading in life, "I’ll be this girl, with this amount of money, working in this career, living in this home, driving this car, marrying this helluva handsome man." But I later came to realize that

my Lord has a brighter future for me,

one that exceeds my expectations.

Also, I thought I knew the truth regarding pleasures, my body, and sexuality, but for the longest while, I was embracing lies.

But I know who I am! “I am Ashaki Dixon, grew up in this community, belonging to this family, with these desires, gifts, and ambitions.” It's wonderful news that I know a couple of things about myself, and not going mad. But what I know is minuscule to the knowledge God has of me, and the great plans He has in store for my life.

Before coming to Christ, my identity was being built on a shallow and misguided foundation. However, my self-knowledge and self-worth drastically changed when I gave my life to Christ and

began knowing Him intimately. My distorted identity, attitude, and life choices have all been transformed to reflect His truth and glory.

How did it all happen? By getting to know God for myself. Now I'm overjoyed to shout out to the ends of the earth that

I know who and why I am because I know whose I am!

I want this for you too. I hope that after reading this post and diving into this practical workbook, you'll come to know God more and your position within His Kingdom plan. In this blog post, I'll be sharing 7 incredible attributes of God that all Christian women must know. I'll be covering:

7 Attributes of God Every Christian Woman Should Know

  1. The Self-Existence of God

The self-existence of God means that our God exists all on His own, without depending on anything or anyone. Our God doesn't need any external source or cause to exist; rather, He exists by His own nature & power. Our God is self-sufficient, needing nothing and no one to keep Him alive.

Bible verses to reflect on;

Exodus 3:14: "God said to Moses, 'I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: "I am has sent me to you."

Acts 17:24-25: "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else."

Revelation 1:8: "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Affirmations;

  • My God is self-existent.

  • My God exists by His own will and power.

  • My God is independent. He doesn’t need anything or anyone to sustain Him. Rather, I need Him.

  • My God is the ultimate sustainer and provider of life.

  • My God causes everything in creation, including myself, to depend on Him.

2. The  Transcendence of God

The transcendence of God means that He exists beyond and outside the physical universe. This attribute accurately describes how amazing, unique, and powerful our Lord is. God's transcendence means that He is not tied down by time, space, or any earthly constraints. He's in a whole other realm that we’ll never grasp on this side of life.

Bible verses to reflect on

Psalm 113:4-5: "The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high?"

Psalm 90:2: "Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God."

John 8:56-58: "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad." "You are not yet fifty years old," they said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

Affirmation

  • My God is transcendent.

  • My God exists beyond the material world.

  • My God cannot be compared to anything or anyone in His creation. God uses creation to demonstrate, not compare, His amazing qualities.

  • My God is unique. He is one of a kind. There is no one else like my Lord.

  • My God is the only true God that, and will ever exist.

3. The Sovereignty of God

The sovereignty of God speaks to His supreme power, authority, and control over all creation. He's the ultimate top boss and CEO of the universe. He calls all the shots and guides things according to His Kingdom plan. God's sovereignty covers everything– all events, circumstances, and outcomes, both in the natural world and in each of our lives.

Bible verses to reflect on;

Job 23:13: "But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases."

Job 42:2: "I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted."

Daniel 4:34-35: “At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: 'What have you done?”

Affirmation;

  • My God is sovereign

  • My God calls the shots, not me, not my enemies, not the devil, not the President.

  • My God is the ultimate ruler of Earth, and the Universe

  • My God can do whatever He wants with anything or anyone, including me.

4 . The Veracity of God

The veracity of God means that He is trustworthy. We can trust unreservedly that His words are completely secure, reliable, and dependable. Throughout the Bible, God is depicted as a God who cannot lie (Titus 1:2), and His promises always come through (Num 23:19). This attribute of God serves as a solid foundation for believers because it implies that, “we can fully trust God with our love life, sexuality, career, finances, health and eternal future.”

Bible verses to reflect on;

2 Timothy 2:13: "If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself."

Numbers 23:19: "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?"

Titus 1:2: "In the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,"

Affirmations;

  • My God is trustworthy.

  • My God is the ultimate source of truth and honesty.

  • My God cannot lie.

  • The words He spoke to us through scriptures are true and reliable.

5. The Omniscience of God

The omniscience of God refers to His attribute of being all-knowing. Our God doesn’t just know a lot; He knows everything. He possesses complete and perfect knowledge of everything, the past, present, and future. He knows every detail, thought, intention, and outcome on and beyond Earth. There is absolutely nothing I can keep away from my Lord. He knows me more than I know myself.

Bible verses to reflect on;

Hebrews 4:13: "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."

Psalm 139:1-6: "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain."

Matthew 10:29-30: "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered."

Affirmation;

  • My God is omniscient. He knows everything.

  • My God knows my thoughts, passions, longings, and desires.

  • My God knows my past, present, and future.

  • My God knows my weaknesses, fears, wounds, gifts, and abilities.

  • He knows exactly who and why I am.

6. The Omnipresence of God

The omnipresence of God means that He is everywhere at all times. Our God is not limited by space or time; rather He’s fully present throughout the entire universe simultaneously. This superpower keeps Him close to His creation at all times. How wonderful is it to know that God is always near you? And here's the comforting part: nothing dreadful we’re going through in life can ever separate us from God's presence. He’s right here with us whenever we need Him.

Bible verses to reflect on;

Psalm 139:7-12: "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,' even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you."

Rom 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Proverbs 15:3: "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good."

Affirmation;

  • My God is omnipresent. He is always present in my life.

  • My God’s presence cannot be contained.

  • My God is alive and attentive to all things.

  • My God is fully aware of everything going on in my life.

  • He won’t withdraw His presence from me. He is accessible whenever I seek Him.

7. The Love of God

The love of God speaks to His unconditional and unwavering affection for all humans. God expresses His love in numerous ways, including the way He provides for us, guides and protects us, forgives our sins, and grants us salvation via His son Jesus. The great news is that God’s love is not dependent on our actions, merits, or circumstances but is freely given to every mankind.

Bible verses to reflect on;

Romans 8:38-39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Ezekiel 18:32: "For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!"

1 John 4:7-12: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."

Affirmation;

  • My God is love.

  • My God loves us all even those who are yet to come and know Him.

  • My God chooses to love me even during my times of weakness.

  • His love is unconditional and eternal.

  • He loves me so much that He came down on earth to die for my sins, so that I become justified in Christ, exempt from his eternal wrath, and receive the grace of everlasting life (John 3:16).

Let’s Wrap up
